Queer music is as fluid and diverse as the community it comes from. Queer and trans people have been at the forefront of so many burgeoning musical movements across history, from disco, to rock & roll, to experimental harsh noise. Tamaki Makaurau’s experimental music scene is rich with diverse performers often disconnected from the mainstream queer community events due to the experimental nature of their art. Join us for a day and night celebrating the diversity and creativity of Tamaki Makaurau’s queer music scene hosted by Aotearoa’s premier organisation for sonic exploration – The Audio Foundation.
Loud and Proud will showcase a hand-picked selection of our some of our best experimental, underground, and “out-there” LGBTQIA musicians, across the spectrums of gender, sexuality, and genre, under the sun and the moon, in locations along Karangahape Road (Pitt Street Methodist Church, The Audio Foundation and Whammy Bar). Festival passes will be $25 unwaged and $30 waged.
Returning after presentations in 2019, 2020 and 2021, Ary Jansen, Aaliyah Zionov and Alexandra Stone have handed over the reins to Tash van Schaardenburg to bring the festival back for Auckland Pride 2024.
