Where & When
February 8th, 15th & 29th, 6pm-9pm
There’s a lot to think about while growing up as a queer person! Balancing our queer identities alongside the pressures of increased independence can feel like a lot. We are holding a series of workshops to share the essential life skills they don’t teach you in school!
Come hang out with us and other Rainbow young people from across Tāmaki Makaurau. Share snacks, make friends, and create some good memories during Pride 2024:
Safer Partying for Queer Communities
February 8th, 6pm-9pm
New Lynn Community Centre, Tāmaki Makaurau
We’ve teamed up with the NZ Drug Foundation to talk about partying safely as a young Rainbow person. We’ll learn how to prep for a big night out, how to get your drugs tested, and talk about strategies to keep yourself and your mates safe.
Aro ki te hā: Respectful Queer Relationships
February 15th 6pm – 9pm
New Lynn Community Centre, Tāmaki Makaurau
With our friends at InsideOut, we look towards what safe, loving and liberating forms of relating can look like, and how to be in a practice of safe love – from the love of the whenua we are living on, to our relationships with ourselves, our whānau, friends, romantic partners and our communities.
Queer Rights with YouthLaw!
February 29th 6pm – 9pm
New Lynn Community Centre, Tāmaki Makaurau
We have invited YouthLaw to lead us in exploring Queer rights in the workplace and as a tenant. We’ll talk about advocating to your employer or colleagues around your sexuality or gender identity. We’ll explore strategies to increase your understanding of your organisation’s diversity and inclusion policies and explore what you need to think about as a tenant when establishing a new flat with your mates.
These workshops have been organised by CAYAD Tāmaki Makaurau (Community Action on Youth and Drugs). CAYAD is a harm reduction initiative that works to improve wellbeing for all young people by transforming the systems and environments that perpetuate alcohol and other drug harm.
